The Way Ministries...John 14:6
Prayer for understanding and overcoming the obstacles to Unity and Peace.
Weekly prayer of January 16, 2005.
Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for showing us last week that unity is to be one with You (1 Corinthians 6:17; Ephesians 4:4-6) and that You alone ordain and establish peace (Psalm 147:14; Isaiah 26:12). You know LORD that we very much desire unity and peace at home and abroad even though our actions may seem contrary. Therefore, please help us LORD to understand the obstacles to unity and peace and teach us how to overcome them.
After making this request the LORD led me to Galatians 5:16-26 which reads: “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the Flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish” (Galatians 5:16 -17).
Next, the LORD showed the obstacles to unity and peace as the works of the flesh, namely: “adultery, fornication, uncleanness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousy, outburst of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like…” (Galatians 5:19-21). The LORD also showed that we can overcome the works of the flesh by avoiding their practice and by walking in the Spirit.
We thank You O LORD for this knowledge and for showing us that the fruit or outcome of walking in the Spirit is “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and against such there is no law” ( 5:16 -26).
We rejoice O LORD in knowing that You do hear us and You do answer our prayers. Let this fact draw all men and women to You and let it encourage us to submit to Your word. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
To our visitors: Let this prayer be yours as you receive it and personally offer it to God, Amen. If you said and offered this prayer to God and desire to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, or if you have any prayer requests please use this link to ( Email Us).
