Prayer for Unity and Peace and a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Weekly prayer of February 20, 2005.

At The Way Ministries…John 14:6 everything is done in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for this week and for continuing to guide and direct us on the path to unity and peace. Earlier on You showed us that unity is to be one with You (1 Corinthians 6:17 ; Ephesians 4:4-6) and that sin separates us from You (Romans 3:23 , 6:23 ). Deep down I believe that most people are pulled away from You by worldly things. I also believe and hope that most people will embrace You as we know and understand You better. So what else should we know to help us seek and embrace You?

As I listened for a response a number of scriptures ran through my mind. Some of them were on prayer and submission, some were on faith, obedience, and trust, some were on confession, repentance, and reconciliation, but ultimately the LORD reminded me of the gospel of John 14:6 where Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). And He impressed upon me that, that is all we need to know as we seek to embrace and follow Him. After reflecting on that verse I asked God to help me understand the significance of that verse.

Again, the LORD directed me to 1 Peter 1:13-21 and showed me that sinners were redeemed “with the precious blood of (Jesus) Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19 ). I thanked and worshipped God and acknowledged my sin and asked for forgiveness. I also rejoiced in knowing that I am one with God through His only begotten Son. Thank You LORD for sending Your one and “ only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 ). In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
