The Way Ministries...John 14:6
Prayer for Understanding the value of staying united with God and the Church.
Weekly prayer of March 6, 2005.
Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for this week and for continuing to reveal Yourself to us in Your word and through Your Spirit. As we struggle to obey or not to obey You, and to seek or not to seek You, remind us that the Children of Israel had similar struggles. That even after You brought them out of the land of Egypt (Exodus 13:17-22 and “went before them by day in a pillar of cloud … and by night in a pillar of fire …” (Exodus 13:21), that all it took for them to turn from You and to create and worship an idol (a molded calf) apparently because of Moses’ delay in coming down from the mountain, was impatience and a lack of understanding of who You are and how You operate (Exodus 32:1-10).
Help us this week to understand that some of us have corrupted ourselves by turning away from You and Your Son and blaming it on Your written word or on the incongruity of the church for the reasons that the Children of Israel corrupted themselves by making a golden calf and turning away from You. Show us that all who believe in You and Your Son Jesus and are baptized, be they Jew or Greek, slave or free, are saved by grace (Ephesians 2:1-9, 19-22), and are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-29). Help us to further understand O LORD that part of being united with You is learning to be united with Christ and with members of His body, the Church. However, if that fails, we should understand as You showed us last week that we are responsible to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” and should not give up by turning our backs on You.
We love You LORD and we are glad that You are the model for our love for You and for each other. Now please forgive us our trespasses and always enable Your will to be fulfilled in our lives. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
To our visitors: Let this prayer be yours as you receive it and personally offer it to God, Amen. If you said and offered this prayer to God and desire unity and peace with Him and with the Church, or if you have any prayer requests please use this link to (Email Us).
