The Way Ministries...John 14:6
Prayer of commitment to a holy and righteous life for the sake of unity and peace.
Weekly prayer of April 10, 2005.
At The Way Ministries…John 14:6 everything is done in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for this day and for Your Son Jesus who lived and died for the sins of the world so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). This is the day that You have made for us to rejoice and be glad in. We rejoice in knowing that one day “this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” 1 Corinthians 15:53). We are glad because You are the God who made heaven and earth (Nehemiah 9:6), Your Son is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 1:8), and Your Holy Spirit is the one sent by Your Son to “convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment” (John 16:8). Yet, O LORD, we continue to struggle spiritually because there is still so much evil, and hatred, and suffering in the world today. O LORD, why is that the case?
In response, the LORD showed me that He once destroyed man because of the wicked and evil thoughts that pervaded his heart continually (Genesis 6: 5-7). He then reminded me that all who believe in Jesus are saved by grace through faith to become God’s “workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” (Ephesians 6:8-10). He also reminded me that although “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12), nonetheless, as Jesus said: “If you abide in My word, you are my disciples in deed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31, 32).
After that, I prayed: LORD, You know our hearts. In the name of Jesus, please give us a clean and receptive heart that we may obey You and keep Your commandments. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
