The Way Ministries...John 14:6
Prayer for knowing how to Recognize God’s voice and act on His Commandments.
Weekly prayer of June 12, 2005.
At The Way Ministries…John 14:6 everything is done in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for the start of this day and this week that we have not seen until now. Last week we prayed and asked for the ability to set aside our differences and to follow Jesus. We ask this for the sake of experiencing true unity, true peace, and true life. We thank You LORD for leading us this week to examine the life of Saul who later became known as Paul, the Apostle. Looking at the Apostle Paul, it is refreshing to know that regardless of who we are, hearing Your voice is a powerful way to helping us to yield to You and to set aside our differences and to follow Jesus. It is also refreshing to know that like Paul, the Apostle You do speak to us even when we are on the path to evil deeds (Acts 9:1-9).
Like Paul, if we don’t know You and we hear Your voice as we contemplate evil, enable us to first inquire who You are. Then upon realizing we are in Your presence, enable us to say, “Lord, what do You want me to do? (Acts 9:5, 6). Once we know it is Your Son Jesus speaking to us, like Paul, enable us to not execute our evil thoughts; and enable us to share our conversion experience with a disciple, and to act on what Your Son Jesus commanded us to do during that experience.
We thank You LORD for knowing that at the top of Your commandments is the command to love You with our whole heart, and soul, and mind, and strength. And to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30 , 31). In the name of Jesus, as we recognize Your voice, let us also understand Your word, and how to love You and those who love us, and how to love our enemies and bless those who curse us, and how to do good to those who hate us as well as, pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us (Matthew 5:44). We thank You for who You are, and for what You do, and for being the first to love us (1 John 4:19 ). In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
