The Way Ministries...John 14:6

Jesus said to him,

"... I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

- John 14:6 (NKJV)

Prayer for faithful and successful marriages.

Weekly prayer of August 21, 2005.

At The Way Ministries…John 14:6 everything is done in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. We thank You LORD for a day and a week that we have never seen before and for the many days and weeks that we are yet to see. My wife and I thank You for 28 years of marriage this August. We do not take for granted that we are still in love with You and with each other. What a mighty and loving God You are. We praise and we bless You O LORD for Your Son Jesus. He has truly been our Rock, our fortress, and our deliverer. It is His grace that has enabled us to trust and hold on to Your unchanging hands. We thank You Jesus for Your grace. It is truly sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9).

You warned and cautioned us in the last three prayer sessions of the danger and evil of divorce. We receive Your warnings and words of caution and are committed to You and to our marriage. However, we still would appreciate getting some tips for a faithful and successful marriage. After a moment of silence, the LORD asked the following questions of me? Why did I allow Satan to cause Job pain and suffering (Job 1:12; 2:6)? Why do I allow the sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:45b)? I responded with a question: LORD, is it because You are the Great “I AM…?” Moments later The LORD led me to Matthew 26:39 where Jesus in His prayer said: “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:39).

From that prayer, the LORD showed me that making the ultimate sacrifice of taking on the sin of world by One who did not know sin, was not easy. That, this was why for a moment Jesus considered divorcing the people that He personally came to save. Fortunately, out of humility and trust, He changed His mind and put His life and purpose in His Father’s hands regardless of the cost. Then the LORD led me to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 which reads:

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Following that I rejoiced and thanked God for the time He spent with me. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
