The Way Ministries...John 14:6
Prayer of Gratitude for Jesus’ birth.
Weekly prayer of December 19, 2004.
Our Father and our God in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. LORD we are grateful for Your Son Jesus and for the opportunity to celebrate His birth in December. We are grateful to know that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 ). For that we thank You. We also thank You for letting Jesus to shed more light on the purpose for His birth when He said: “Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17 ).
As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, help us understand that whereas the law that was given by Moses could not bring the world to perfection, the grace that was given by Jesus can bring the world to perfection through faith. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourself, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).
This week, help us to also understand that as a Prophet Jesus was “mighty in deed and word before God and all the people” (Luke 24:19). Remind us that this was supported by the “gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth” ( Luke 4:22 ), by the miracles He performed on the earth (Matthew 14:13 -21, John 9:1-12, 11:38 -44), and the fact that “He gave Himself for our sins … according to the will of our God” (Galatians 1:4) thus fulfilling the law and the prophets (Isaiah 53).
Assure us O LORD that while we cannot fulfill the law on our own, if we believe in Jesus, the law is fulfilled for us because of the shed blood of “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
I thank You LORD for helping me understand why Jesus came to the earth. I acknowledge that I am a sinner, that I cannot fulfill the law nor attain perfection on my own. However, I believe I can do both by faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore in honor of Jesus’ birth today, I receive Him as my Lord and Savior. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit, Amen.
To our visitors: Let this prayer be yours as you receive it and personally offer it to God, Amen. If you said and offered this prayer to God and/or if You accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior, or if you have any prayer requests please use this link to (Email Us).
